Why did anyone buy that?

It’s one of my favourite questions. Why do people pay more for the middle option? Why does the same thing sell brilliantly on a Tuesday and sink on a Thursday? Why did an entire country change its mind about organ donation without a single person changing their opinion?

There are answers to all of those questions, and some of them are absolutely fascinating! I go and find the research, answers and ideas worth trying out, so that you can adapt them for your business. This is the stuff that you can easily use any day of the week, experiment with, and see the results for yourself.

A monthly reason to think about your business differently

The Buying Mind is for anyone whose job depends on someone else saying yes. Marketers, founders, fundraisers, and people who write things and hope they generate great results. I’ve spent thirty years helping healthcare, technology, science and B2B sectors learn about the psychology of why people buy, what motivates them and, importantly, what turns them off too!

What lands in your inbox:

  • One fascinating idea about how people decide, explained without the jargon
  • The bit where the obvious explanation isn’t always the correct answer
  • Something you can actually try this week
  • What the studies say and what they really mean
  • Sources, so you can go and have a look yourself

One email. First Tuesday of the month. That’s the lot.

If it stops being interesting, unsubscribing takes one click and I promise not to take it personally.
